Manly and Bondi Beach, Sydney

It was a free day of the tour, so, instead of joining the rest of the group for a shopping trip, I made my own plan, thanks to emails from friends.

It was a free day of the tour, so, instead of joining the rest of the group for a shopping trip, I made my own plan, thanks to emails from friends.

We started by taking train and Ferry to Manly, in the northern part of Sydney. There, we have lunch at Ribs & Rumps (R&R), a steak house, within 20 minutes of walking from manly wharf. It face the manly beach, so you will have a wonderful view to see while dining. R&R serves several size of steaks, from 200 grams, up to 1kg of steak!

After having a heavy meal, we walked along the packed manly beach. Well… turns out that in Holiday season, Manly beach is also packed. We saw people playing volleyball, or just sunbathing. We took some pictures before heading back to the wharf, to catch 2:15 Ferry.

After 30 minutes of ferry back to Circular Quay, we catch another Ferry, heading for Double Bay. The trip took 15-20 minutes. Double Bay is more calm than Manly beach. About 5 minutes walk, we reach the resturant area of Double Bay. We were looking the Ice Cream shop, but found the CHocolate shop, which is not bad at all. We order Chocolate Fondue, served with Banana Cake, Strawberry, Banana, and Marshmallow.

Back from Double Bay, we catch a train and bus to Bondi Beach. I have to admit that Sydney’s train station is hard to navigate. Anyway… we were at Bondi Beach, which is as packed as Manly. Compared to Gold Coast Beaches, Manly and Bondi, has different features. Gold Coast beaches known for long stretch, while Bondi and Manly display the hills.

Incidentally, we found the Eastern beaches Coastal Walk. It is a 3.2km trail, from Bondi to Bronte beach, about 1 hour of walk one way. It is a nice trail, where people jog along. We took pictures, sit for some rest. Sometime I amazed that my 57-year old mom could still do the trail. 2 thumbs up for you mom.

We catch the bus and train again back to Circular Quay. Too bad that I mis-read the marking on my map, that we miss Hard Rock Cafe. And an SMS from my office completely ruined my evening. We just grab 2 burgers from McD, and head back to the Hotel for some good rest.

Looking forward to see you in Melbourne tomorrow…..

PS: Check the Ferry Schedule for planning the journey.
PS2: Check also the Bronte Bus & Bondi Junction Train. We wasted 1 hour because we miss the bus schedule.
